Born in Edinburgh Scotland moved to Wellington NZ in 1974

Grow up in Wainuiomata, went to Wainuiomata College

2 years at Victoria University studying Architecture, then moved on to study

1 year as an Electrical draughts man, desided to work for a multi national

3 years as a Coca Cola, then I felt the Arts calling me.

2 years at Wellington Insititute of Technology studying photography (1989/90)

All these career changes have given me an appreciation how business & art can work toghether.

Half way through my seccond year at Wellington Insititute of Technology I was offered a good position with ex Dominion chief photographer Barry Durrant. That where I learnt my craft. We shot for Toyota, fotopress, Sunday News, NZ womans Weekly etc  shooting & processing our own  B&W, Colour Neg and sending trannies to the lab.

With the Birth on my first child in 1995 it was time to branch out on my own, so in 1996 I became house husband/Photographer, that worked out great but within 6 months I had so much work, my wife gave up work and I went full time again. The rest is history.

I have been shooting for some clients for 20 years!

My longest run single job has been going for about 17 years, every year I shoot team photos for Dick Quakes before a 5km fun run.

Most fun jobs:

Dancing with the Stars was one of the most fun but also the most stress full, people think weddings are high pressure and you have to get a great photo, LIVE TV is a whole new ball game, 90 seconds to get a great action shot while dodging TV cameraman/woman then you have 3 minutes to pick the best shots, photoshop then email them to the waiting media.

What I like to shoot!

I like photographing people (you can probably tell that from the images on my website) it can be for magazines, events, school balls or annual reports, I can shoot anything quickly and efficiently (Came's back to my training from an ex Dominion photographer)

Hobbies:

Coaching Soccer

Taking photos

Watching my kids at sports
